  • Tretford Rugs by Markian are handcrafted and manufactured in Brisbane, Australia by joining colours from the Tretford ROLL carpet to create custom pieces.

Tretford carpet has exceptionally clean, elegant lines due to its unique construction using cashmere goat hair.

The natural properties of Tretford Rugs actively reduce airborne dust and allergens, promote energy-saving, and facilitate excellent indoor acoustics.

From the company’s foundation in the mid-1950s, Tretford’s focus has been utilising natural and renewable resources – which in today’s terminology means  using sustainable raw materials.

Produced in Germany and Ireland for over 50 years, Tretford carpets positively contribute to healthy living and working environments. This is largely due to its unique feature, Cashmere goat hair from the highlands of Inner and Outer Mongolia.

Tretford Roll & INTERLIFE Tile largely consist of this long top hair of the Cashmere goat, and also other renewable and recycled raw materials, for example, jute in Roll format, and 80% recycled polyester felt in INTERLIFE tile backing. This unique construction – with its distinctive structural corded look and proven quality – has established Tretford as a much-loved brand around the world.

The Tretford Rugs by Markian range is an extension of the range motif and carries with it the playfulness of colour combinations, the stark graphic delineations that separate but join and the shapes that combine it all together.

  • “It wasn't an architect or a designer who invented objects, but an artisan.” - Giorgetto Giugiaro.Giorgetto Giugiaro is, by general consent, the world's greatest living car designer, arguably the greatest to have ever lived. He was born in Garessio, Italy, in 1938. His father and grandfather were both oil painters, and Giugiaro quickly developed a passion for art. He studied art and technical design in Turin but had little interest in styling automobiles before one of his professors suggested that the automobile industry would pay him handsomely for his artistic talents. In 1955, he began working for Fiat, joining Fiat’s Special Vehicle Design Study Department. Four years later, he moved on to the famous Gruppo Bertone styling centre. At Gruppo Bertone, he created some of his most notable work - the Aston Martin DB4 GT Jet Concept, Ferrari 250 GT Concept, Chevrolet Corvair Testudo Concept, Alfa Romeo Sprint, and the Fiat 850 Spider. In 1967, Giugiaro formed a partnership with Aldo Mantovani and founded a company near Turin, Italy, named Italdesign (later Ital Design/Giugiaro). The company’s portfolio includes the Alfa Romeo Alfasud, Lotus Esprit, Volkswagen Golf and Scirocco, Bugatti EB112, Saab 9000, Subaru SVX, and the DeLorean DMC 12.Like the Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupés, Giugiaro's earliest cars often featured tastefully arched and curving shapes, such as the De Tomaso Mangusta, Iso Grifo, and Maserati Ghibli. In the late 1960s, Giugiaro made increasingly angular designs, culminating in the "folded paper" era of the 1970s. Straight-lined designs such as the BMW M1, Lotus Esprit S1, and Maserati Bora followed. He changed again during the early 1990s, introducing a more curvy approach with his Lamborghini Calà, Maserati Spyder, and Ferrari GG50.In addition to his automotive designs, Giugiaro has also shaped numerous consumer products such as cameras for Nikon, firearms for Beretta, and motorcycles for Ducati and Suzuki.During his impressive 60-year career, Giugiaro styled cars for nearly every major automaker across the globe. He has designed 200 models with sales of more than 60m, and in 1999 a panel of respected international journalists and car industry leaders voted him “Car Designer of the Century”. Considering the breadth of his accomplishments, it is difficult to name anyone who has had a more significant influence on modern automotive design than Giorgetto Giugiaro.
