Bringing together the companies that helped make Markian a reality, this two-day CPD intensive event will include masterclasses, exclusive showcases, and presentations from top industry experts, Barrett Group, Dulux, and Laminex. After over 18 months of restrictions and lockdowns, Making Markian is a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet some new ones.

This free, covid-safe boutique event will allow you to engage with suppliers in in-depth conversations, whilst the masterclasses allow for a face-to-face introduction of the latest products and methods.

Excitingly, Dulux has chosen to launch their 2022 Colour Forecast at Making Markian alongside Laminex presenting what their latest trends are, so this is not to be an event to be missed!

Meet the Makers...

Barrett Group

Established in 1983, the Barrett Group has developed an enviable reputation for producing top-quality, innovative fit-out solutions across the retail, commercial and hospitality industries. Led by Justin and Andrew Barrett, the second generation company was built on a combination of unrivalled craftsmanship and excellent customer service. Upholding these values ensures that every project the team tackles is delivered on time and within budget.

Barrett Group are proud partners of Markian, and are behind the manufacturing of each Markian furniture piece.

Since they first established their joinery workshop in 1983 to deliver on the quality required for their own projects, it has grown to be among the best in Australia, supplying bespoke joinery and furniture of the highest standard.

Dulux helps their consumers to imagine and create better places and spaces in which to live and work. DuluxGroup's origins date back to 1918, with its original heritage in decorative paint for Australian and New Zealand homes. Today, DuluxGroup is a leading marketer and manufacturer of premium branded products that protect, maintain and enhance the spaces and places in which we live and work.

The inaugural range from Markian, VIEIRA, is inspired by travel. Drawing inspiration from the seen and experienced. But the innate imbuing that meandering holds further deepens the desire to feature the interconnectedness of space and the overlap of materiality between unexpected locations. VIEIRA specifically focuses on celebrating those connections. One of those connections formed the colour inspiration for the range. Nine colourways inspired by flowers - native both to Australia and South Africa. Named aptly in their Spanish variants - Azul, Baja, Naranja, Verde, Grano, Obscura, Gris, Amarilla, and Tosca were matched to Dulux forecasted colours and paired with a myriad of beautiful, interesting and tactile materials.

In a small tin shed in suburban Melbourne over 80 years ago, Bob Sykes began creating decorative laminates. Over the years, the product range has expanded to include engineered stone, modern laminates, acrylic surfaces, timber panelling products, and more. Laminex has grown up a lot since 1934, but their original intention has never changed - they believe that every Australian deserves great quality products and great quality design.

With quality and design an integral part of Markian, it was a no-brainer to work with Laminex. Laminex products are found throughout the Markian showroom and our bespoke furniture range.
